Salon booking software pricing can look simple until you add the details that matter in a real salon. A plan that looks inexpensive for one stylist can become expensive once you add staff calendars, locations, messaging, payments, forms, marketing, or marketplace commissions.

The first question is how the platform charges. Some tools charge per staff member, some per calendar, some per provider, and some per location. Marketplace-led platforms may also charge when they bring you a new client. Payment processing is usually separate from the subscription.

Look beyond the monthly fee

Before choosing a platform, write down every cost that could apply to your salon: subscription, additional staff, additional locations, SMS or WhatsApp reminders, email marketing, forms, payroll, inventory tools, branded apps, onboarding, data migration, hardware, and payment processing.

Free plans can be useful, especially for solo stylists and new salons. But free does not always mean cost-free forever. Some free plans limit bookings, providers, features, reminders, or branding. Some platforms keep booking free but charge for payments, messages, or new clients from their marketplace.

Treat marketplace fees as client acquisition cost

If a marketplace brings you a new client, a commission or first-booking fee may be worth paying. The real question is whether that client rebooks. Compare the fee against average ticket value, repeat rate, and lifetime value.

Questions to ask before paying

  • Is pricing per stylist, per calendar, per location, or per business?
  • Are SMS reminders, deposits, forms, memberships, and payroll included?
  • What payment processing rate applies in your country?
  • Does the platform charge for marketplace clients?
  • Can you export your client data if you leave?

The best pricing model is the one you can explain in one sentence and forecast for the next twelve months. If you need help deciding whether discovery matters more than direct booking, read marketplace vs direct booking for salons.
